Behavioral psychologist, Harvey Barnett began developing the ISR, or Infant Swimming Resource, program in 1966. Over several years of research, the program, based on the behavioral sciences, has evolved to what it is today and achieves unparalleled results. “It’s not magic, it’s science!”
SAFETY!!! ISR is the only organization in the industry that requires a medical and developmental history record of all potential students be reviewed by a team of medical professionals before being accepted into survival swimming lessons. Lessons are taught the way a child learns, through sensori-motor learning, just the way your child learned to sit, crawl, or walk.
Instructors are trained in behavioral psychology, child developmental theory, and physiology. They are required to go through many weeks of in water training as well as academic training. All instructors also go through a yearly recertification process to be sure everyone stays up to date on best teaching practices.
